The Sustainibility Cube (left) tracks whether the current US debt stock is already in the Danger Zone of fiscal dominance in which national debt, annual defecits, and the cost to roll over the national debt grow large enough to constrain the Fed's freedom of action to set monetary policy in its pursuit to fulfill its mandates. The Failure Cube (right) plots the answer to a similar question: if inflation printed hot, and the Fed would like to raise rates, would they even be able to? Or would a hike be unthinkable because the cost to pay out higher rates would be too great?
